The Kapalua Coastal Trail has the most breathtaking views of Maui's rugged coastline and lush landscapes. Dare we say it’s some of the best views in the world?! It’s surely one of our absolute favorites.
This is an easy hike (I’ve done it in sandals but would recommend sneakers if you have them) that meanders through lava rock formations and native vegetation, from one beach to the next. This scenic trail provides opportunities for wildlife spotting - whales, turtles and birds. Hiking in the morning showcases the teal blue water best against the black lava rock and green hills, whereas early evening hikes are magical at near sunset.
Insider tip: The best whale watching is from the point at sunset (during whale season, December through April). Don’t miss it!
